🌙 Cryptid of the Month: Baby Mothman
If you’ve ever wished cryptids came in pocket-sized, this one’s for you. Meet Baby Mothman—the tiny, fluffy, wide-eyed version of one of folklore’s most mysterious creatures. Don’t let the name fool you though… baby or not, those glowing eyes still have plenty of mischief behind them.
🦋 A Little Lore
The legend of Mothman usually paints him as an omen of disaster—appearing before bridge collapses, strange lights, or bad storms. But what if there was a softer side? What if, tucked away in some hidden corner of the forest, there are little Mothlings learning how to flap their wings, bump into porch lanterns, and chirp curiously at passing fireflies?
That’s where Baby Mothman comes in: a cryptid reimagined through the lens of spooky-cute art.
🎨 Why Baby Mothman?
For me, it’s the balance of eerie and adorable. I love taking creatures that have a reputation for being terrifying and showing the “what if?” side of them. What if Mothman wasn’t a terrifying omen but a curious little critter just trying to figure out the world?
Baby Mothman is:
đź‘€ Big glowing eyes, too wide for his fluffy little head
🪽 Tiny, fuzzy wings that are more decorative than functional (for now)
🕯️ A deep fascination with candles, lanterns, and glowing screens
đź’ˇ How He Fits My World
Baby Mothman isn’t just a design for fun—he’s part of my larger cryptid world. You might see him fluttering through diary entries, field logs, or even the background of future projects. He’s proof that even in the eerie unknown, there’s always room for cuteness and heart.
